Would I Lie To You - GG #10 - By Cecily von Ziegesar

Welcome to New York City's Upper East Side, where my friends and I live in decadent penthouses, massive townhouses, and come summer, fabulous beach houses.

Enter the world of Gossip Girl -- a world where espadrille sandals are flown in from Spain, crisp cotton sundresses are made to order, and jealousy and betrayal are the ultimate summer accessories.

Time to throw your hair into a messy pony and cut off your Sevens -- we're heading to the Hamptons! S and B are now co-muses to a super-famous designer, who just happens to live next door to N's Hampton's estate.... I wonder how neighborly these new neighbors are going to get. And what's this I hear about V venturing surfside? Who's next, D!? Never say never....

You know you love me,
gossip girl

Another enjoyable installment in this series. As the series draws to an end, only 2 left and 1 is a prequel, one can't help but wonder how things will turn out. And will we, as readers, be happy with the ending. I don't know, but I sure can't wait to find out!!!! This was another hit for me. Gotta love getting lost in the world of these bratty and bitchy girls who I can certainly relate to at times. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one!!! :) 4/5

May Reads.....

So I managed to read 11 books in May. Not too bad, but not as many as I would have liked. I'll just keep on plugging away and hopefully reach my yearly goal!!!! :)

Love Undercover by Jo Edwards

True love needs no disguise.

Kaitlyn Nichols craves a little mystery and mayhem in her life. Having a secret agent for a father should do the trick, but unfortunately Dad is no 007, and danger is nowhere on the horizon.

But all that changes when Mr. Nichols brings home Blaine, a seventeen-year-old hottie who's about to enter the Witness Protection Program. Suddenly Kaitlyn's in the perilous position of protecting the cutest guy she's ever met!

When Dad enrolls Blaine in her high school, it's up to Kait to detect the girls who want him...and the guys who want him dead. Meanwhile, Kait's about to discover that there's one little thing she can't protect -- her heart.

I just loved this YA book!!!! It has everything embroiled into one book, teen love and how to make it actually work. The mean witchy highschool girl who takes pleasure in making her school mates miserable, the typical hot guy who thinks the world revolves around him. And then these 2 ordinary teens trying to figure out how to be together when the odds are stacked up against them. I just loved the 2 main characters in this book, Blaine and Kaitlyn, they are down to earth, normal kids which is so appealing!!! This was a fun, quick, entertaining read!! :) 4/5

Author MeMe.......

I was tagged by Shhh I'm Reading for an author meme, and of course I have to do it!!!! ;)

1. Who’s your all-time favorite author, and why?

I'd have to go with James Patterson. I simply love his stuff...........all of his stuff!!!!! I love the mystery/suspense/thriller books as well as the love story types that lots of people aren't too crazy about!!! ;)

2. Who was your first favorite author, and why? Do you still consider him or her among your favorites?

Judy Blume...............I read Are you There God, It's Me Margaret over and over and over again!!!! I've enjoyed her adult lit as well, not sure I would put her in my faves category, but definitely enjoyable!! :)

3. Who’s the most recent addition to your list of favorite authors, and why?

Hmmmmm, lots of the new cozy authors. Tim Myers comes to mind. Also Allison Brennan, Lorna Bartlett & Hank Phillippi Ryan. I know there are tons more that I've added lately but those stand out!! :)

4. If someone asked you who your favorite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth? Are there any you’d add on a moment of further reflection?

Right now, I would have to say LuAnn McLane. I have discovered her writing within the past year and have LOVED everything she has written!!!! After that I would include all of the above authors!! :) I also have to add Jodi Picoult to this list.........I love all of her stuff!!

Tuesday Thingers...........

Woops, I'm a day late, but I want to participate anyway...........hahaha :)

So the question this week is- how many books do you have cataloged in your LibraryThing account? How do you decide what to include- everything you have, everything you've read- and are there things you leave off?

Right now I have 765 books listed.

I have listed books I've read, along with books that are on my TBR pile. I also have some that I have WL'd at PBS. I've been bad about keeping up with additions, but am working on remembering to post them as they come in the mail!! :)

Only In Your Dreams (Gossip Girl #9) by Cecily von Ziegesar

Welcome to New York Citys Upper East Side, where the girls are dazzling, the guys are gorgeous, and the summer heat is the perfect excuse to throw a fabulous roof-deck pool party. Its their last summer together before heading off to college, and things are sizzling no, its not just the weather. Despite that steamy kiss on graduation night, Blair, Serena and Nate have gone their separate ways though not for long. Blair is off to London with her English Lord-boyfriend, Serenas about to become a movie star as if she wasnt a star already! and Nates rolling up his well-worn khakis and heading to the Hamptons. Back in New York, Dan and Vanessa are rekindling their love. Fiery! Watch out, this summer is going to be hotter than ever.

Another typical GG book of course, what I have come to expect and love. It's always great to re-visit these characters and see what they're up to. In this installment, graduation has passed and the summer is just beginning. And everyone has a dare I say *job* of some sort. The bitch factor was definitely there (which I love) as was the drama of who was going to be with who. How easily these kids change their minds about whose *bed* they want to sleep in tonight. As always, it was a delightful romp through the city, and of course I am already looking forward to the next installment!!! :) 3.5/5

Time for Tuesday.....

1. If I could go on a dream vacation, it would be to Italy.

2. My 3 favourite things to do are: play with my kids, read, and sleep.

3. If I could change the world, I would start with peace.

Things I Want My Daughters to Know by Elizabeth Noble

How do you cope in a world without your mother?

When Barbara realizes time is running out, she writes letters to her four daughters, aware that they'll be facing the trials and triumphs of life without her at their side. But how can she leave them when they still have so much growing up to do?

Take Lisa, in her midthirties but incapable of making a commitment; or Jennifer, trapped in a stale marriage and buttoned up so tight she could burst. Twentysomething Amanda, the traveler, has always distanced herself from the rest of the family; and then there's Hannah, a teenage girl on the verge of womanhood about to be parted from the mother she adores.

But by drawing on the wisdom in Barbara's letters, the girls might just find a way to cope with their loss. And in coming to terms with their bereavement, can they also set themselves free to enjoy their lives with all the passion and love each deserves?

This heartfelt novel by bestselling author Elizabeth Noble celebrates family, friends . . . and the glorious, endless possibilities of life.

Things I Want My Daughters to Know by Elizabeth Noble is a jaunt through the lives of 4 sisters: Lisa, Jennifer, Amanda and Hannah, and how they come together after the all too soon death of their mother Barbara. The mother who took time on her death bed to write each of her daughters a special letter and a journal of sorts to inform each of them of important memories and feelings she wanted them to know.

I found myself invested in the lives of Mark, Lisa, Jennifer, Amanda and Hannah and I truly wanted to find out how their lives would progress. I eagerly turned the pages to read more about which direction their lives were headed. I cared about this cast of characters, which to me marks a terrific book.

4 Sisters all at different stages of their lives, one with a fear of committment, one in an unhappy marriage, one always traveling and running away and one coming into womanhood. Will the journal their mum left them along with their individual letters help them progress through their very different lives and l get through all that troubles them?

Things I Want My Daughters to Know is a wonderful journey through the lives of these four women, a journey that I am so happy I was able to take alongside them. 4.5/5

Hmmmmm......

Do good things come to those who wait? Yes, although sometimes you have to wait so long you forget what you're waiting for......hehe

Your best friend's spouse is being unfaithful. Would you tell your friend? If so, how? Gosh, this is such a tough question, but I would have to say yes I would. Although I might confront her husband first and beg him to tell her himself once he knew I knew about it. If he refused, I would.

Which part of your body do you like the least? Would you change it through plastic surgery, if possible? Another tough one, but I would have to say my upper arms. Weird huh?!?!?! All I know is that every time I have lost weight in the past I have been able to lose it from everywhere but there!!!! ;)

The NEXT-Book for Free.....

Thanks to Lori, over at Lori's Reading Corner, I was turned onto this incredible site!!!!!

The book I would love to have is: A Little Less Talk and A Lot More Action by LuAnne McLane. This is one author that I am just loving. I have read all of her books, both contemporary romance and light erotica and she never ceases to dissapoint. Her contemporaries are so heartfelt. Each I have read I have laughed, cried, got angry and a whole other slew of emotions along with the main character. Her erotica is filled with hot scenes but she also incorporates so much of the emotions of the characaters. She's great at developing her characters even in a short novella. She makes you root for the couples and draws you right into their story. This is one author that I would recommend to anyone to try out!! :)

A special thank you to Shoshana for this incredible contest. Make sure to check out her blog as she gives away lots of great books!!! :) Thanks so much Shoshana for sharing your books with everyone!!! :) Those of us true bibliophiles truly appreciate it!! :)

Books VS Movies....

Books and films both tell stories, but what we want from a book can be different from what we want from a movie. Is this true for you? If so, what’s the difference between a book and a movie?

A book is always the better way to go for me. There is always so much more detail, and I find that sometimes movies tend to leave out what I think are the most important parts. I like to see the movie after I read the book though, and I tend to hope that when I do the book doesn't lose it's appeal to me if the movie is horrible!!!!! I always read the book first though, never the other way around!!! ;)

Preaching To The Corpse by Roberta Isleib

It's Christmas in postcard-perfect Guilford, Connecticut, but the season is anything but peaceful. When a church member dies under suspicious circumstances, the minister starts looking for a higher power...

Someone's putting the "con" in congregation...

Psychologist/advice columnist Dr. Rebecca Butterman gets a call in the middle of the night from the minister at her church. He's in custody after going to a parishioiner's home---and finding her freshly dead. The murdered matron was the leader of a search committee charged with finding a new assistant pastor after the previous one left in a rush. Rebecca learns that the committee was divided---Did someone try to eliminate the competition? Now she's putting her analytical skills to work to track the killer, while resisting the urge to break the seventh commandment with a very married detective and praying she's not the next victim.

This was a truly enjoyable read for me. Dr. Rebecca Butterman is an intriguing sleuth who just doesn't listen when told she's O-F-F the case!!! This book shows us that everyone has their secrets, even members of the clergy and those active in church life. We are all human, and all humans have flaws. The *whodunit* remained a mystery to me until the very end and had a very satisfying conclusion. :) 4/5

What is the best example of “perfection” that you can think of? My children

The Best Girl by Emma Harrison

You Are Cordially Invited . . .

to your brother's wedding where he will marry rich, famous Marni Shay, at the River Lodge, the most elite resort in Colorado, the state you chose to go to college in so you could escape your family, except they'll all be there. Enjoy ten fun-filled days of avoiding your mother, who still thinks you're not girly enough; planning your brother's bachelor party, because you are his best man, er, girl; and, oh yeah, trying not to drool all over Hot Connor, who happens to be in your English seminar and work at the River Lodge. Put your best foot forward, and . . .

Don't miss the most joyous celebration of the year!

Yeah, right.

This was such a cute YA book!!! I love how it incorporated a couple little lessons in it that meshed with the story and did not take away from it. I think that means more to me as an adult than it would have as a teen, but I still appreciate the fact that they are there!!! Just a really cute story about Jane......ummmm......Farrah, well whatever....hahaha You can change the name, but it doesn't mean that deep down you change the girl!! ;) 3.5/5

Undead and Uneasy by MaryJanice Davidson

Weddings are never easy. But when you're Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor, they can become downright deadly...

In the days leading up to The Big Day, Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor seems to have a full house and the wedding guests have yet to arrive. Along with her human buddies, there's a ghost, a werewolf, and a Fiend crashing at her place. And though her fiance, Vampire King Eric Sinclair, conveniently disappears when the conversation turns to seating charts and flower arrangements, he does manage to make his oh-so-sexy presence known at other moments.

Cold feet are no surprise, especially with an undead groom. But when Sinclair truly goes missing-and not just to avoid wedding preparations-along with most of her friends and loved ones, Betsy is frantic. Alone and afraid for the fate of everyone she loves, Betsy can't trust anyone as she tries to find them and whoever is behind all the disappearances. And what happens next will shake the foundation of the vampire world forever.

Another great addition to the Undead Series!!! Queen Betsy is at it again, and this time she is left alone and has no idea why or where everyone has dissapeared to. She is introduced to a whole pack of new people and finds out her true strength. She also finds out that maybe you don't really always want everything you wish for!! Another fun and witty romp through the life of Queen Betsy of course leaves you wanting another one!!! Great read, just loved it!!! 5/5

Prime Time by Hank Phillippi Ryan

Could an innocent e-mail offer really result in murder, mayhem and a multimillion-dollar fraud ring? The last person to ask is dead but that won't keep Charlotte McNally from poking around. Face it in the cutthroat world of television journalism, this seasoned reporter knows that she'd better pull out all the stops or kiss her cushy job (and that means her life) goodbye.

But all too soon her investigation leads her straight to Josh Gelston, who is a little too a lot too handsome. Could she trust a word he said? Charlie might have a nose for news, but men are a whole other story. Which means she is putting her job, life and heart on the line.

Wow, what a great book!!! I truly enjoyed this mystery!!! I loved the spam email angle, it was completely original and intriguing!!! I was sucked into this book from the very first chapter. The relationship between Charlie and Franklin was true and real and easy to relate to, a wonderful working partnership. The hint of romance was a nice touch, but certainly not a main focus of the story. The book kept me guessing and I changed my *whodunit* a whole bunch of times!! I am now moving the 2nd in this series directly to my mini-tbr pile!!! :) 5/5

Series Challenge Season 2

Katherin from Crazy Cozy Murders is hosting this challenge, the rules are really basic, I've already signed up, but I haven't chosen which series I want to finish yet, I still have a little time for that!!! :)

Here are her rules:

Here is officially the 2nd Season!!!

Again, the challenge will be for 6 months, from June 1st, 2008 until November 30th, 2008. And the rules are:

1. There is no set number of books you have to read, you just have to read the books so that you are all up-to-date with the series.

2. Post your review of the books on your blog, no matter how long.

3. Post a link to your reviews with the Mr Linky that I will set up as soon as this challenge starts.

4. Always remember this is for fun!

Manic Monday

If the statement, 'You are what you eat' was true, I would be a _______. Parmesan Goldfish Cracker

If you had to have one piece of music (softly) playing in your mind for the rest of your life, what would you want it to be? I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but it would have to be something calming or soothing!! :)

What is the most important thing in any relationship? Trust, hands down, without trust you have nothing to base the rest of your relationship on, trust first then everything else falls into place!!

Thoughts While Having Sex by Stephanie Lehmann

Unflinchingly honest and delightfully raucous, a brilliant debut novel follows Jennifer Ward, a playwright who is still haunted by the death of her sister, as she embarks on a rollicking journey of self-discovery in order to overcome her painful past and open her heart to the possibilities of love.

The title and cover of this book are very deceiving. The story revolves around a playwrite who is struggling to get over survivor's guilt because her sister commit suicide. Although there are some comical parts in this book, it definitely has a more serious theme to it. Sex is discussed throughout, but not in the way you would think. I really enjoyed this book and was pleasantly surprised that it was not at all what I expected it to be!! :) 3.5/5

The Dead Girls Dance by Rachel Caine

The 2nd book in the Morganville Vampires YA series.

Claire has her share of challenges. Like being a genius in a school that favors beauty over brains; homicidal girls in her dorm, and finding out that her college town is overrun with the living dead. On the up side, she has a new boyfriend with a vampire-hunting dad. But when a local fraternity throws the Dead Girls' Dance, hell is really going to break loose.

Loved this book!!!!! I love how the author leaves you hanging a little at the end and itching to read then next book in the series!! I am going to try to wait a couple weeks to read the 3rd installment as the 4th book isn't due out until the beginning of June. I plan on buying it as I don't believe I'll be able to hold out for my spot on the PBS WishList!!!! Great book, great series!!!! LOVED it!!! :) 5/5

Hi, It's Me!!! :)

So I've been blogging off and on, with no real consistency, and have decided to give it another go. Hopefully I'll be better about keeping up with things!!! I'm mainly going to be using my blog to keep track of the books I'm reading and what I think of them. Basically my random thoughts about books. That's it........just random musings about the books I've read!!!! You can agree, disagree, think I'm completely whack in the way I ramble, it's all good........hahaha

You won't find any official review type posts here, I'm not that great with words. I just want to be able to read back through and be able to know if I really liked that book and why!!!! ;) That's my purpose..........hahaha :)
